San Fancisco - Maxime Le Forestier

Maxime le Forestier and his sister Cat spent the summer of 1971 in San Francisco, living in the Castro District, home to Harvey Milk and an expanding Gay community. The experience, and meeting poet Allen Ginsberg, was the inspiration of the song San Francisco.

San Francisco - Maxime Le Forestier
C'est une maison bleue
Adossée à la colline
On y vient à pied
On ne frappe pas
Ceux qui vivent là
Ont jeté la clé

On se retrouve ensemble
Après des années de route
Et on vient s'asseoir
Autour du repas
Tout le monde est là
A cinq heures du soir

Quand San Francisco s'embrume
Quand San Francisco s'allume
San Francisco
Où etes-vous
Lizzard et Luc
Sylvia
Attendez-moi

On y vient à pied
On ne frappe pas
Ceux qui vivent là
Ont jeté la clé
Peuplée de cheveux longs
De grands lits et de musique
Peuplée de lumière
Et peuplée de fous
Elle sera dernière
A rester debout.

Si San Francisco s'effondre
Si San Francisco s'effondre
San Francisco
Où etes-vous
Lizzard et Luc
Sylvia
Attendez-moi...

It's a blue house
Set in the hill
Walk right up
Don't even knock
Those who live there
Threw away the key

We gather
After years on the road
Just sitting
Around the table
All the world is here
Five o'clock comes

San Francisco covered in fog
San Francisco lit at night
San Francisco
Where are you
Lizzard and Luke
Sylvia
Wait for me

Swimming in a fog
Together moving to the weed
Tom on guitar
Phil on the flute long into the night
One arrives
To tell us
Of one who will return in a year or two
As he is happy to fall asleep
When San Francisco wakes ...

It is a blue house
Clinging to my memory
Come on foot
Don't knock on the door
Those who live there
Have thrown away the key
People with long hair
Large beds and music
Populated by light
And crowded with fools
It will last
Standing forever.

If San Francisco should fall
If San Francisco should fall
San Francisco
Where are you?
Lizzard and Luke
Sylvia
Wait for me...
